Greetings from the Gooding Wellness Group! We hope your summer was full of sunshine and relaxation. While we enjoyed some summer sun and fun ourselves, the clinicians at Gooding Wellness kept busy in our community (and beyond) in between their sessions.
From attending prestigious events like the 37th Annual Angel Ball and the Wellbridge Summer Party, to opening a new office and engaging in advanced therapy training, our summer was vibrant and productive. Gordon and Peter Attend the 37th Annual Angel Ball
On June 11th, Gordon and Peter attended the Long Island Council on Alcohol and Drug Dependence's (LICADD) 37th Annual Adele Smither Angel Ball at Oheka Castle. This annual event recognizes community members dedicated to supporting the LICADD's mission to help the community. It was a beautiful event where Gordon and Peter had the opportunity to connect with many leaders in the field of mental health and substance abuse services on Long Island. It was an especially meaningful night for Peter, who saw one of his former mentors, John Venza, LCSW, recognized for his outstanding contributions to this field.
Gordon, Peter and Liana Attend the Wellbridge Summer Party
On June 26, Gordon, Peter and Liana attended the Wellbridge Summer Party in Calverton. It was a beautiful night filled with great people, amazing professionals, and outstanding food on the beautiful grounds of the Wellbridge campus. Wellbridge Treatment Center is one of the leaders in the northeast for inpatient substance abuse treatment. We were so grateful to be invited, and to continue to collaborate with Wellbridge with our Virtual Family Support group each and every Tuesday night with our own Liana Ross, LMHC.
Gooding Wellness Opens a New Office at 3 Harbor Road in Cold Spring Harbor
As of July 1, we are excited to announce the opening of our new ground level office at 3 Harbor Road in Cold Spring Harbor. The office is located directly across the street from the beautiful waterfront park in the village of Cold Spring Harbor. The building is beautiful and also hosts several other wellness and health care professional practices. We are excited to be there!
Peter Juliano in the Process of Becoming Certified in EMDR
Peter Juliano is working to become certified by the EMDR International Association, and has already completed training through the EMDR Institute. He continues to practice EMDR weekly while attending ongoing consultations with an internationally certified trainer. Peter will be taking specialized training in the areas of anxiety, depression, and complex trauma.
Julia Purcaro Visits the Long Island Center for Recovery
On Thursday, June 12, Julia Purcaro had the pleasure of visiting our friends at the Long Island Center for Recovery (LICR) in Hampton Bays. The Gooding Wellness Group and LICR have a long working history together, and it was so generous of them to meet with Julia and give her a tour of their amazing facility.
Long Island Center for Recovery is a comprehensive drug and alcohol rehab center. They provide addiction treatment and recovery for adults struggling with alcohol addiction, drug addiction, and addiction to prescription drugs such as depressants, opioids, and stimulants. We appreciate all the great work LICR does, and we look forward to continuing to collaborate together.
Gooding Wellness Hosts the Summer Grab & Go Networking Event
On Friday, July 12, Gooding Wellness Group hosted a “Grab & Go” networking event in our backyard at Sweetie Pies on Main. The gathering brought together private practitioners, agencies, treatment facilities, nutritionists, and other healthcare professionals, fostering valuable connections that benefit our clients by providing them with comprehensive resources. Thank you to everyone who joined us and contributed to this successful event!
Julia Purcaro & Liana Ross Begin Gottman Therapy Training
Throughout the summer, Liana Ross & Julia Purcaro have been participating in Gottman Therapy Training. Gottman Therapy is an evidence-based approach to helping couples. The goals of Gottman Method Couples Therapy are to disarm conflicting verbal communication, increase intimacy, respect, and affection while also removing barriers that create a feeling of stagnancy and create a heightened sense of empathy and understanding within the context of the relationship. With Lisa Current already experienced and trained in Gottman Therapy, it is our hope this will better enable us to serve our clients in an effective and realistic approach.
Gordon Visits Water Gap Wellness in Pennsylvania
On Thursday, August 8, Gordon visited Water Gap Wellness in Pennsylvania. Water Gap Wellness is a beautiful facility that offers inpatient mental health and substance abuse treatment services. Water Gap has been an amazing resource for clients who need a more supportive environment. Not only is the campus beautiful, but the clinical team is dedicated and outstanding. In terms of inpatient care, Water Gap Wellness is clearly a leader in the industry, and Gooding Wellness is fortunate to collaborate with them in our work here on Long Island.
Gordon, Peter & Julia Visit the Kenneth Peters Center for Recovery
Gordon, Peter and Julia visited the Kenneth Peters Center for Recovery (KPC) on Friday, August 9th. The team was fortunate enough to meet with Claudia Ragni who spent time with the team to talk about the amazing services KPC offers in Syosset and Hauppauge.
The treatment team at KPC developed and pioneered the concept of Intensive Outpatient Rehabilitation as an alternative to traditional inpatient treatment, and they remain on the forefront of the addictions network on Long Island. Our team has been fortunate enough to collaborate with KPC for years in order to help connect our clients to the best possible substance abuse treatment services.
